HELP INSPIRE SUPPORT

I grew up with epilepsy.  I had "Grand-Mal" seizures, today known as "Tonic-Clonic" seizures at home and at school.  These were very painful events in my life.  The migraines lasted for weeks following a seizure.  In the beginning, I spent days in the hospital being diagnosed and treated.  I missed a fair amount of school during this time.  Followed by different test's and various prescription drugs to help control the seizures.  Eventually finding a medication that worked, but not without trial and error.

Although I am very fortunate to have out grown my epilepsy, I will never forget what it feels like to have a seizure.  I have a great deal of empathy for the thousands of children that live with epilepsy and various types of seizures every day.  Some of them will have seizures for the rest of their lives, some will grow out of it and others will die from it.

More people live with epilepsy than those with Autism, Parkinsons disease, MS and Cerebral Palsy combined.  Yet federal funding for epilepsy research is about $2 per person affected - nowhere near the federal funding for other disorders which range from $65 to $1147 per person affected.  The doctors, families and most of all, children of this community need your help in the fight to end epilepsy.
